Libromide Kbr Tablets 325mg - each

Libromide Kbr Tablets 325mg - each

Libromide is a veterinary medicine used to help manage epilepsy in dogs. Libromide Tablets are commonly prescribed by veterinary surgeons for the long-term treatment of canine epilepsy, especially in cases where phenobarbital alone is not effective or suitable. 325mg Libromide contains the active ingredient potassium bromide, which has anticonvulsant properties. It is used either as a standalone treatment or in combination with other anti-epileptic medications to help reduce the frequency and severity of seizures in dogs.

Epilepsy is a neurological condition that affects the brain. In dogs, it leads to recurrent seizures, which can vary in type and severity. The exact cause of epilepsy is often unknown, particularly in cases of idiopathic epilepsy, which is the most common form in dogs. However, the condition can also result from underlying health issues such as brain tumours, liver disease, head trauma, or exposure to toxins. Regardless of the cause, the goal of treatment is to reduce seizure frequency and improve the dog’s quality of life.

Seizures are caused by abnormal electrical activity in the brain. When nerve cells (neurons) fire excessively or erratically, this can result in uncontrolled muscle movements, loss of consciousness, drooling, twitching, or other physical symptoms. In dogs with epilepsy, this activity can be triggered randomly and may occur multiple times a month or even several times in a single day. Not all seizures are the same. Some may involve the whole body (generalised seizures), while others may only affect part of the body or behaviour (focal seizures).

Libromide Tablets work by stabilising the electrical activity in the brain. Potassium bromide, the active ingredient, alters the chloride transport within neurons, increasing the seizure threshold and reducing the likelihood of seizures occurring. This helps to calm the nerve signals in the brain, making seizures less frequent and less intense. Unlike some medications, Libromide is not metabolised by the liver, which makes it a useful alternative for dogs with liver conditions or those who do not tolerate phenobarbital well.

Incurin Tablet 1mg - Priced per Tablet

Incurin Tablet 1mg - Priced per Tablet

Incurin is a prescription medication used to manage hormone-dependent urinary incontinence in female dogs. It contains estriol, a natural form of oestrogen, which helps restore control over bladder function. This medication is specifically designed for spayed female dogs experiencing involuntary urine leakage due to decreased oestrogen levels.

What is Hormone-Dependent Urinary Incontinence?

Hormone-dependent urinary incontinence is a common condition in spayed female dogs, typically occurring as they age. It results from a decline in oestrogen production following spaying. Oestrogen plays a crucial role in maintaining muscle tone in the urethral sphincter, which is responsible for preventing urine leakage.

When oestrogen levels drop, the muscles controlling urine retention weaken, leading to involuntary leakage. This condition is also known as urethral sphincter mechanism incompetence (USMI). It can cause noticeable symptoms such as small puddles of urine left behind where the dog has been lying down or sleeping. Leakage can be infrequent or more consistent, depending on the severity of the condition.

Although the condition is not painful, it can be distressing for both the dog and the owner. Affected dogs may not realise they are leaking urine, and owners may notice damp bedding or an ammonia-like odour. Without treatment, the condition can lead to skin irritation, infections, and hygiene concerns.

Galastop 7ml Oral Solution

Galastop 7ml Oral Solution

Galastop 7ml is a medication used to treat false pregnancy in dogs, and it can also be used to treat mastitis. It is an oral medicine that can be fed to animals by mixing it in food or fluids.

7ml Galastop is an ergoline derivative with a potent selective and long-lasting inhibitory effect on prolactin secretion. Prolactin is the key hormone for lactogenesis and for the initiation and maintenance of lactation after parturition. Furthermore the aetiology of false pregnancy is currently thought to be mediated by rising prolactin levels stimulated by falling progesterone levels during the course of metoestrus.

1mg Isemid Tablet for Dogs - Sold Individually

1mg Isemid Tablet for Dogs - Sold Individually

1mg Isemid Tablets for Dogs are used to manage the symptoms of congestive heart failure in dogs. Congestive heart failure is a medical condition where the dog's heart is unable to pump blood efficiently, leading to a fluid accumulation in the chest and lungs, clinically referred to as pulmonary oedema.

Isemid 1mg for Dogs works by enhancing the elimination of water and salt through the urine. This action subsequently decreases the overall blood volume, thereby reducing the strain on the heart to pump blood. The primary active ingredient in Isemid is Torasemide, a potent diuretic that facilitates the renal excretion of sodium, chloride, and water.

1mg Isemid Tablets are chewable, facilitating ease of administration. They can be given with or without food, providing flexibility in the regimen. VETERINARY PRESCRIPTION REQUIRED

Laxatract for Dogs and Cats - 50ml Laxatract Lactulose

Laxatract for Dogs and Cats - 50ml Laxatract Lactulose

Laxatract is an oral solution for dogs and cats used to relieve constipation and support digestive health. It contains lactulose, an osmotic laxative that helps soften stools and promote regular bowel movements. Laxatract is commonly prescribed for pets suffering from chronic or occasional constipation and may also be used in cases requiring the management of hepatic encephalopathy.

How Does Laxatract Work?

Laxatract contains lactulose, a synthetic sugar that is not absorbed by the body. Instead, it passes through the digestive tract unchanged until it reaches the colon. Once in the colon, lactulose is broken down by bacteria into organic acids, which draw water into the intestines. This increase in water content softens the stool and makes it easier to pass.

By promoting bowel movements, lactulose helps prevent discomfort and complications associated with constipation. It also encourages healthy gut motility, reducing the risk of further digestive issues.

60mg Galliprant Tablets for Dogs - Per Tablet

60mg Galliprant Tablets for Dogs - Per Tablet

60mg Galliprant tablets are a veterinary medication specifically formulated for managing pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis in dogs. Osteoarthritis is a common, degenerative joint condition that progressively worsens over time, leading to chronic discomfort, reduced mobility, and diminished quality of life in affected pets. Galliprant tablets have been developed to provide effective relief from these symptoms by specifically targeting the sources of inflammation and pain.

Galliprant 60mg contains the active ingredient grapiprant, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) from a new class known as piprants. Unlike traditional NSAIDs, Galliprant is uniquely designed to selectively target and block the prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) EP4 receptor, which is the primary mediator involved in canine osteoarthritis pain and inflammation. By specifically blocking this receptor, Galliprant effectively reduces inflammation and discomfort without adversely affecting other prostaglandins that maintain essential bodily functions, such as protecting the gastrointestinal tract, kidneys, and liver.

The selective action of Galliprant makes it a safer alternative compared to many traditional NSAIDs, particularly for long-term management of chronic conditions like osteoarthritis. Its targeted approach significantly lowers the risk of side effects that are commonly associated with other NSAIDs, making it an excellent option for dogs requiring continuous pain management.
