Atopic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease caused by allergic reactions to environmental substances such as pollen, moulds, dust mites, and certain foods. Symptoms typically include severe itching, redness, and recurrent skin infections. This condition can significantly impact a dog's quality of life, leading to discomfort, anxiety, and behavioural changes.

Dogs with atopic dermatitis often exhibit excessive scratching, licking, chewing, or rubbing of their skin. These behaviours can lead to hair loss, open sores, and secondary bacterial or yeast infections. Commonly affected areas include the face, ears, paws, abdomen, and armpits. If left untreated, the condition can worsen, causing chronic skin damage and increased susceptibility to infections.

Cytopoint 40mg for Dogs is a biological therapy that works by mimicking the natural immune system response. It contains a monoclonal antibody specifically designed to bind to canine IL-31. When injected, these antibodies circulate in the dog's body and neutralise IL-31, effectively blocking the itch signal. This action provides rapid relief, often within 24 hours, and can last for up to four to eight weeks, depending on the individual dog's response. This duration of action allows for less frequent dosing compared to traditional therapies such as tablets, making it a convenient option.
