Kelapril tablets are indicated for the treatment of congestive heart failure in dogs and to reduce proteinuria associated with chronic kidney disease in cats. For cats, this tablet is a combination of diuretic and an ACE inhibitor to help eliminate excess fluid from the body. It is also combined with a low-salt diet to help prevent further low blood pressure and possible sodium toxicity. For dogs, this medication is used to increase the amount of water in the circulatory system, reduce congestion by increasing blood flow through the heart and lungs, as well as enhancing and prolonging the effect of cardiac drugs used for treating congestive heart failure in dogs.
