Vetmedin, a phosphodiesterase type-III (PDE-III) inhibitor is a therapy to treat natur heart disease in dogs that have evidenced any of the following: degenerative mitral valve disease and/or dilated cardiomyopathy, or left ventricular systolic dysfunction associated with tricuspid regurgitation (TR). This means that your dog's heart isn't working as hard as it should be, and therefore oxygen isn't circulating around the body as well as it could.
Vetmedin is a medication used to treat heart failure in dogs. The product can be prescribed by a veterinarian to treat dogs with valvular insufficiency or dilated cardiomyopathy. Vetmedin is administered intravenously with a dosage of 1 ml per 10 lbs on the weight of the dog, and must be given 12 hours prior to the next dose.
